Complement Fixation Antigens and Reagents

TCS Biosciences offer a range of Complement Fixation Antigens and Reagents. The antigens are supplied in 1ml and 5ml amounts with control antigen and positive controls.

The range of reagents, Guinea Pig Complement and Rabbit Haemolytic Serum are screened for Complement Fixation Tests (CFT) and single Radial Haemolysis assays (SRH). Test samples of Guinea Pig Complement and Rabbit Haemolytic Serum are available for evaluation free of charge and a batch reservation system is available.

Guinea Pig Complement

TCS Biosciences Guinea Pig Complement is a lyophilised whole guinea pig serum with Richardson’s preservative which has been processed so as to retain a high level of complement activity and is screened for:

Sterility
Consistently high CFT titres
No cross-reactivity with common CFT antigens
Function in radial haemolysis assays

Lyophilised Guinea Pig Complement can be stored at +4°C to -20°C for up to two years. Rehydrated and frozen Guinea Pig Complement can be aliquoted into volumes convenient for use and stored at -20°C for up to six months. Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended.

Our tests ensure that TCS Biosciences Guinea Pig Complement is suitable for CFT and SRH when used with our own sheep blood and rabbit haemolytic serum. The highly variable qualities of some CFT antigens leads us to recommend that our customers test a sample of TCS Guinea Pig Complement from a reserved batch to ensure compatibility with their own system.
