The Crypto-Cel FITC Stain, produced by Cellabs, was the first stain to receive UK Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) accreditation. It is an in vitro immunofluorescent test for the detection of Cryptosporidium oocysts in faecal and environmental samples.

The fluorescein-labelled monoclonal antibody reagent binds specifically to Cryptosporidium oocysts on the slide. Cryptosporidium oocysts stain bright green. Visualisation is enhanced by the Evans Blue counter stain, which gives a red background and suppresses non-specific fluorescence.

The Crypto-Cel FITC Stain gives positive, reliable results, and is cost effective.
